This Thunderbolt 4 hub is designed to seamlessly integrate with a wide range of devices, including MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac Studio, and Mac mini running macOS 11 or later, as well as Windows 10 and later computers, iPad Pro, iPad Air 4/5, and Chromebooks. It also works exceptionally well with USB-C and USB4 computers, as well as Thunderbolt 3 Mac devices. However, if you have a Thunderbolt 3 Windows laptop, this hub may not be the best fit (see part # K36400NA).
The hub supports dual monitor 4K Ultra HD (4K 60Hz) or single monitor 8K 30Hz for Thunderbolt laptops. It's important to note that any Macs with the original M1, M2, or M3 CPU will only display to a single monitor due to Apple's chipset limitations, but Macs with M1/M2/M3 Pro and M1/M2/M3 Max CPUs will work with dual displays. For USB-C laptops, HBR3 laptops will receive Dual 4K@30Hz or Single 4K@60Hz, while HBR2 laptops will receive Dual 1080P@60Hz or Single 4K@30Hz. It's worth mentioning that USB-C Alt-Mode laptop with Thunderbolt 4 dock supports single display only.
To use the hub, simply connect your device to the Thunderbolt 4 port using the included .8-meter Intel Certified TB4 cable. Then, connect your displays using one or two of the Thunderbolt 4 ports (USB-C to HDMI or USB-C to DisplayPort adapter or cable not included). The unused Thunderbolt ports can connect directly to other Thunderbolt devices (up to five in total via daisy chain), providing transfer speeds up to 40Gbps.
The 150-watt power supply delivers 65 watts of power to charge your laptop and additional power to run peripherals like SSDs, mixers, phones, tablets, and other accessories, including Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, USB 4.0, USB 3, and USB 2 peripherals.
The static charging technology ensures that each of the downstream Thunderbolt 4 ports receives 15 watts of power without taking power away from the laptop. This means your laptop will still receive the full 65 watts of power, even when all other ports are being utilized. In contrast, other Thunderbolt 4 docks may divert power away from the laptop.
The hub offers three Thunderbolt 4 downstream ports (all capable of data, video, and audio, with 15 watts of power each) and one USB-A port (Gen2@10Gbps). It also features a power button.
The DockWorks WiFi Auto-Switch technology guarantees the fastest and most reliable internet connection, while MAC Address ID Pass-Through, Reset, and Device Connection Monitoring provide IT managers with maximum network monitoring and visibility. Additionally, the Intel VT-d DMA protection blocks peripheral devices from unauthorized access to system memory.
Lastly, the hub comes with a three-year warranty and lifetime Kensington technical support, ensuring peace of mind and reliable performance.
